The objective of the Bolster Team is harmonize the OEM specifications relating to hardness testing of bolsters and to ultimately find a better way to test them. We are initially looking at the repeatability of the hardness test by eliminating the effect that part geometry has on the results. By analyzing the effect that part thickness, density and hardness have on the test data, we will then be able to determine accuracy of the test.

Once we have determined the accuracy of the test, we can then recommend the best way to test the bolsters.
